The SimonBart Gallery is pleased to present A Tale of Her, an exhibition by Italian artist Mario Matera. The opening will take place on 15th March 2025 at 18:00 at the gallery’s main venue, located at Piazza Cavour 6/E in Bologna, with the artist in attendance.
The exhibition features 25 works divided into the Golden and Chaos series, creating a journey that intertwines fragility and rebirth, order and disorder, beauty and imperfection.
The theme of Matera’s latest series is the woman, depicted in her ability to face and overcome pain, to resurface and transform her wounds into new vital energy. Matera’s woman embodies a powerful vision: a silent yet unstoppable force, capable of healing, rebuilding, and being reborn.
With the Golden series, Matera draws inspiration from the ancient Japanese technique of Kintsugi, the art of repairing ceramics with gold, turning fractures into a new form of beauty. The artist translates this concept into his paintings, exploring the ability to embrace scars as part of one’s value and personal history.
The Chaos series, on the other hand, is a tribute to the generative and transformative power of women. The works evoke the feminine ability to heal wounds, reconnect with oneself and the world, and be reborn from chaos, narrating paths of inner reconstruction and self-affirmation. Through an expressive use of color and material, Mario Matera conveys the energy of a resilience process that is both personal and universal.
The artworks exude a profound strength, with vibrant colors and dynamic forms, where the female figure emerges as the central element of an ever-evolving universe.
A Tale of Her is, therefore, a journey through fragments and recompositions—an invitation to recognize beauty in transformation and to reflect on the strength that arises from fractures, essential starting points for redefining oneself.
