Biography
Gianluca Patti (Monza, 1977) lives and works between Monza and Milan. His research focuses on the study of color and matter as tools for narrating personal experiences and the temporal dimension. The self-taught study of art history had a fundamental role in the evolution of his artistic research: at the beginning of his career he became passionate about the pictorial work of great artists such as Pollock, Vedova, Basquiat and Richter, studying their chromatic balance and seeking their own unique approach to colour, as part of a constantly evolving personal research. Gianluca Patti's work has been exhibited in several personal and collective exhibitions, and has become part of important contemporary art collections. The artist's transversal approach also led him to collaborate on the creation of sets in the advertising and interior design sectors and to be selected for art and business projects.
Gianluca Patti's artistic research is configured as a profound investigation into the essence of color and matter, which have become narrative tools of a personal and temporal story. Deepening the chromatic balance, Patti stands out for a unique approach to color and matter, entering into a constantly evolving research.
Through the bold use of materials such as concrete and resin, closely linked to his family background in the construction industry, the artist transforms construction elements into tools of artistic expression. These materials, evocative of the family business, are transformed into symbolic vehicles that shape Patti's creative process.
Patti, the painter who sculpts, creates both polychrome and monochrome works, characterized by stratifications of cement products, resins, networks and pigments. These layers become a metaphor for sedimented memories and traces of the past, revealing a profound connection between the material and the immaterial.
In his stratification process, Gianluca Patti transforms himself into an archaeologist of his own psyche, digging into the depths of his being. The resulting works are a fusion of memories, fantasies, dreams and experienced or possible states of mind. The artist shapes his experience in a tangible dimension, offering an unprecedented look at an emotional landscape imbued with suggestions and stratifications, like a journey through layers of memory that reveal themselves and intertwine with the present.
